AC/DC Brings the POWER UP Tour to Houston
The legendary rock band returned to Houston with decades of anthems, unmistakable guitar riffs and a performance made for a stadium.

HOUSTON — AC/DC brought the POWER UP Tour to NRG Stadium on Monday, August 31, delivering a night filled with legendary riffs, recognizable anthems and the raw energy that has defined the band for more than five decades.
The Pretty Reckless opened the night before AC/DC took the stage at approximately 8:30 p.m. With Brian Johnson leading the vocals and Angus Young on lead guitar, the band opened its 21-song performance with “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)” before moving directly into “Back in Black.”
The opening stretch also featured “Demon Fire,” “Shot Down in Flames” and “Thunderstruck,” bringing together music from different eras of AC/DC’s catalog.
Johnson’s unmistakable voice remained at the center of the performance, while Young commanded the stadium with his guitar work and constant movement across the stage. The touring lineup also featured rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug and bassist Chris Chaney.
Throughout the night, AC/DC moved between longtime fan favorites and songs from its 2020 album, Power Up. “Shot in the Dark” represented the newer album, while classics including “Hells Bells,” “Highway to Hell,” “Shoot to Thrill” and “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” kept the Houston crowd engaged.
The second half of the set included “High Voltage,” “Riff Raff,” “You Shook Me All Night Long” and “Whole Lotta Rosie.” AC/DC then closed the main performance with “Let There Be Rock,” accompanied by an extended Angus Young guitar solo.
The band returned for a two-song encore featuring “T.N.T.” and “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You),” bringing the stadium performance to a fitting conclusion.
The concert marked AC/DC’s return to Houston following its 2016 Rock or Bust Tour stop. Ten years later, the band showed that its music and stage presence remain built for the biggest venues.
AC/DC’s Houston concert brought multiple generations of fans together for a night celebrating one of rock music’s most recognizable catalogs. From the opening guitar riff to the final encore, the POWER UP Tour delivered exactly what its name promised.
