In a showdown of Texas high school football heavyweights on Friday night, the Atascocita Eagles used explosive plays and a dominant second half to take down the Katy Tigers, 52-33.

From the opening kickoff, Atascocita showed its firepower. Quarterback precision and a balanced attack helped the Eagles jump out to a 14-3 lead after the first quarter. Katy clawed back with a touchdown before halftime, but Atascocita’s offense answered right back to carry a 24-13 advantage into the locker room.

The game’s turning point came in the third quarter. After two costly Katy fumbles, combined with multiple clutch 4th-down conversions by Atascocita, gave the Eagles extra possessions and kept their momentum alive. That’s when senior playmaker #4 CJ Toney took over. The explosive back broke free for multiple touchdowns, stretching the lead to 45-20 heading into the fourth quarter.

Katy, as always, refused to go down quietly. The Tigers put up 13 points in the final frame, fighting until the last whistle. But Atascocita’s offense proved too much to contain, sealing the victory at 52-33.

Toney’s performance was the headline of the night, as his speed and vision consistently broke down Katy’s defense. With each score, he pushed the Eagles further out of reach.

The win marks a statement for Atascocita, showing they can match up with one of Texas’ storied programs and come out on top. For Katy, despite the loss, the fight and flashes of brilliance on offense show they remain a dangerous contender as district play approaches.
