Cougars Celebrate Senior Night with Victory Over Spring

March 10th, 2026

On Senior Night, the Nimitz Cougars women’s soccer team celebrated their graduating players in the best way possible — with a win against the Spring Lions. With teammates, families, and supporters filling the stands at Thorne Stadium, the Cougars stepped onto the field determined to make the night special for their seniors.

From the beginning of the match, Nimitz showed strong teamwork and focus. The Cougars controlled the pace of the game and created several offensive opportunities while also staying strong on defense. Their communication on the field helped them keep momentum throughout the game and limit scoring chances for Spring.

Nimitz was able to turn those opportunities into goals with strong finishes from Lissy Matute and Suri Guerrero. Their goals gave the Cougars the momentum they needed and energized both the players and the crowd.

When the final whistle blew, the team celebrated together after securing the win. The victory felt even more meaningful because of what the night represented for the seniors who have spent years practicing, competing, and representing the program.

After the game, the Senior Night ceremony took place on the field, where family members, teammates, and coaches gathered to honor the Nimitz seniors. Each player walked onto the field with their families while being recognized for their dedication and contributions to the team.

It was a proud and emotional moment for everyone involved. Ending the night with both a win and the Senior Night ceremony made it even more memorable. For the seniors, it was a chance to look back on their journey with the team and celebrate it with the people who supported them along the way.
