HOUSTON (Feb. 22, 2025)Houston Dynamo FC kicked off their 2025 MLS season in rainy, 45-degree weather at Shell Energy Stadium, battling FC Dallas in the season-opening Texas Derby. Despite an early lead, the Dynamo fell 2-1 in front of 18,623 fans.

The Dynamo struck first in the 18th minute, as Amine Bassi found the back of the net after a well-placed cross from Griffin Dorsey was redirected by Ezequiel Ponce. However, FC Dallas equalized in the 55th minute when Petar Musacapitalized on a loose ball at the top of the box. The visitors then secured the win in the 76th minute, with Anderson Julio finishing off a quick counterattack following a collision outside Houston’s penalty area.

  • Jack McGlynn made his Dynamo debut and recorded his 100th MLS regular season appearance, nearly scoring in both the 6th and 73rd minutes, with the latter hitting the woodwork.
