Houston Dynamo VS LAFC Matchday Week 7

Houston Dynamo received the visit of LAFClooking to gain its first win of the season in a wet field. Dynamos came back home after suffering a loss of 3-1 against Portland Timber in the last matchday. As for LAFC who also come from a loss 3-2 to San Diego. A few minutes before the match Houston suffered a Severe Weather Storm that left the field flooded, but that didn’t stop the fans from coming up and supporting the Dynamo. Houston Dynamo went to the field with a 4-3-3 formation, In the first half as the first minutes came off the game flow started off a bit slow LAFC committed a foul on the 3rd minute leaving Jack McGlynn to take the free kick which went too high. On the 9th minute Jack McGlynn came off with a dangerous play shooting it to the goal, but Lloris would block it. As the minutes go by the Dynamos keep the pressure on LAFC who were able to manage only one shot in a offensive play. In the 30th minute David Martinez would receive a yellow card after an elbow to Franco Escobar. On the 34th minute David Martinez ran up the ball to the goal having a dangerous play against the Dynamo he shot the ball, but it was blocked by the goalkeeper Blake Gillingham. In the final minutes of the 1st half the Dynamos were able to manage to keep LAFC on their side pressuring and creating offensive plays and shots. As the 1st half ended the Dynamos showed a good and solid offense having 10 shots and defense with only receiving 3 shots in the game.

As the 2nd half kicked off LAFC started off strong trying to gain control of the game but in play Griffin Dorsey manages to assist Ezequiel Ponce by taking a shot but it being blocked by Hugo Lloris. In the 57thminute Jack McGlynn made an impressive play running through the defensive line to take the shot and scoring the first for the Houston Dynamos. After the goal the Dynamos didn’t slow down their pace as they wanted more keeping the pressure on LAFC gaining corner kicks and possession of the game. As the game moves on LAFC keep on looking to regain possession and create momentum attacking but the Dynamos defense maintains on doing their job in slowing them down. On the 73rd minute a yellow card is issued to Eddie Segura for a foul committed later a yellow card is issued to Houston Dynamo’s Sebastian Kowalczyckfor arguing with the official for an elbow that was given to Franco Escobar. LAFC almost made the equalizer on a free kick giving the Dynamos defense a lot of work up their hand. On the 80th minute Gillingham made a spectacular save on a header given by LAFC player Eddie Segura. The last 10 minutes of the match now it’s all or nothing LAFC having to risk to score the equalizer and Houston Dynamo having to throw themselves back to defend their lead. As the final minute comes in the referee decides to add an additional 7 minutes to the match. Both teams keep the pressure on each other with LAFC attacking and Dynamos responding back. In the 95th in a assist Eddie Segura headed it missing the goal. The referee gave the final ending the match 1-0 the Houston Dynamo securing their first win of the season. Jack McGlynn was named the man of the match.
In the post conference Ben Olsen was thrilled and happy for the win after a long month since the season started. Giving a lot of credit to the staff, to Blake Gillingham who’s had an extraordinary game, and to Jack McGlynn. Jack also showed his happiness and thrill with the result tonight, redeeming himself after the mistake committed against Portland. The Houston Dynamo will hit the road in the West visiting the current MLS Champions LA Galaxy next Saturday April 12, 2025, Kick Off time will be at 7:30 pm Western Time/ 9:30 pm Central Time.
