Houston Super Cup Weekend 2 Delivers 57 Goals as Knockout Race Takes Shape
The Houston Super Cup returned to GFI for another action-packed weekend, delivering 57 goals across eight matches. Week 2 featured dominant wins, late equalizers, dramatic comebacks and several standout individual performances as the knockout picture began to take shape.
Ballers HFA and Ghosttown Stay Perfect in Group C
Ghosttown Saints FC opened the weekend with a 7–4 victory over Spring Branch FC, moving to six points with 10 goals scored through two matches.
Ballers HFA also preserved its perfect record with a dramatic 4–3 victory over Houston United FC. Ballers scored in the 69th, 70th and 95th minutes to complete the comeback and secure all three points.
Ballers leads Group C on goal difference, with Ghosttown sitting second. Both clubs have secured their places in the knockout stage, while their final group matches will determine positioning.
Houston Lions Take Control of Group D
Houston Lions FC delivered one of the weekend’s most convincing performances, defeating North Houston FC 6–1. The Lions remain perfect through two games, allowing only one goal while building a plus-six goal difference.
Houston Stars and Vinotinto HTX played to an entertaining 3–3 draw. A. Leon scored twice for Vinotinto, helping the club remain unbeaten and move to four points.
Houston Lions leads Group D with six points, followed by Vinotinto with four. Houston Stars remains in the qualification race with one point entering the final weekend of group play.
AC Juniors and Houston Soccer Prospects Advance
AC Juniors recorded the largest victory of Week 2 with an 8–2 win over Houstonians FC. The result moved AC Juniors to six points with a tournament-leading 14 goals scored and a plus-11 goal difference.
Houston Soccer Prospects also earned its second victory, edging Woodlands Aztecas 4–3 in one of the weekend’s closest matches. A. Fortenberry scored a hat trick for Woodlands Aztecas, but Houston Soccer Prospects held on for the win.
AC Juniors and Houston Soccer Prospects have secured Group A’s two knockout positions. Both teams enter the final group weekend level on six points.
AFC Lions Remain Perfect in Physical Group B Battle
AFC Lions closed the weekend with a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Houston Rangers FC. G. Baker scored both goals for Houston Rangers, but AFC Lions secured the result and remained perfect through two matches.
The contest was one of the tournament’s most physical games so far, producing 10 yellow cards and three red cards.
Earlier on Sunday, Real Houston FC and Little United FC finished level at 2–2. Little United scored a dramatic equalizer in the 94th minute to earn its first point of the tournament.
AFC Lions leads Group B with six points and has secured a knockout place. Houston Rangers currently occupies second place with three points, while Real Houston and Little United remain in contention with one point each.
