UPSL Players Showcase Their Talent in Front of Dynamo Academy
Houston Sports Park was filled with energy on May 3 as UPSL players took the field for a showcase in front of Dynamo Academy.
The event gave players from multiple age groups the opportunity to compete, gain exposure, and show their development in a competitive environment. Pablo Reyes, Dynamo Academy Talent ID Manager, was on site evaluating players and helping lead the talent identification side of the showcase. John Stephen, UPSL Texas Director, was also in attendance, helping represent UPSL Texas and support the event.
With matchups featuring Alpha, Corre Caminos, Houston Futbol Connection, Oranje, Houston FC, and the Houston North/South vs. Houston West/East All-Star Session, the day highlighted young talent from across the Houston soccer community.
The showcase also brought out several UPSL coaches and club leaders, including Houston FC coaches Bruce Talbot and Duncan Green, who were on site watching players compete and represent their clubs. Gorilones Jr coach Sergio, Crossbar UPSL coach Mike Dromlewis, North Houston UPSL coach Pedro Rengel, and Lightning Elite FC UPSL coaches Celso Steiner and Andrea Altamirano were also in attendance, adding to the strong group of coaches supporting the players throughout the event.
The showcase opened with the U13 group as Alpha faced Corre Caminos from 11:30–11:56 AM. The U14 group followed with Corre Caminos vs. Houston Futbol Connection, before the U15 matchup between Oranje and Alpha. The U17 group then took the field with Houston FC vs. Alpha.
Each group returned for a second round of games in the afternoon, giving players more opportunities to get touches, create chances, defend, and show what they can bring to the next level. The short-format games allowed athletes to stay active, compete with intensity, and make the most of their time on the field.
The day wrapped up with the Houston All-Star Session, featuring Houston North/South vs. Houston West/East for the 17–20 age group. The final session gave older UPSL players a platform to compete, stand out, and represent themselves in front of Dynamo Academy.
Throughout the showcase, players displayed their technical ability, athleticism, confidence, and decision-making. From the younger age groups to the older all-star session, the event gave athletes a chance to be seen while continuing to develop their game.
H-Town Pulse was on site capturing photos and videos for booked players, covering warmups, game action, and individual player highlights.
For many of the players, the showcase was more than just another game. It was an opportunity to show up, stand out, and get seen.
Show up. Stand out. Get seen. That was the message of the day, and the UPSL players at Houston Sports Park did exactly that.
