HOUSTON, TX — The North Shore Mustangs continued their playoff dominance with a decisive 49-21 victory over Humble Atascocita in the Class 6A-Division I regional final on Saturday. For the second consecutive year, the Mustangs ended the Eagles’ season at this stage, securing their spot in next week’s state semifinal against Austin Westlake.

North Shore set the tone early, opening the scoring in the first quarter with quarterback Kaleb Bailey’s 8-yard keeper to give the Mustangs a 7-0 lead. The second quarter saw North Shore extend their advantage with Bailey connecting on two touchdown passes to Quanell X Farrakhan Jr., including a 26-yard strike, and D’Andre Hardeman capping off a 99-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown run.

Atascocita managed to respond before halftime with a quarterback keeper by Cardae Mack, but North Shore held a 21-7 lead at the break.

The second half was an offensive showcase for both teams. Kaleb Maryland sparked North Shore’s offense with a 26-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter. Atascocita answered back with a 41-yard touchdown dash by Mack and an electrifying 85-yard kickoff return by Tory Blaylock, keeping the Eagles within striking distance. However, Bailey’s 35-yard rushing touchdown and a 34-yard scoring connection to Farrakhan Jr. ensured the Mustangs maintained control.

In the fourth quarter, North Shore put the game out of reach with Maryland’s 3-yard touchdown run following a critical Atascocita fumble. The Mustangs’ defense played a pivotal role, recovering multiple fumbles and stifling the Eagles’ momentum.
