2025 Cactus Jack HBCU Classic

The 2025 Cactus Jack HBCU Classic, held from February 14–16 at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas, showcased exciting baseball action with six Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) competing: Jackson State, Texas Southern, Southern, Grambling State, Alabama A&M, and Prairie View A&M. Over the three days, nine games were played, highlighting intense rivalries and stellar performances. Southern University emerged as the tournament's dominant team, going undefeated, while Jackson State and Grambling State also delivered strong showings. Beyond the games, the event celebrated HBCU culture with a college fair, alumni happy hour, and community engagement events, bringing together fans, athletes, and supporters to honor the legacy of HBCUs.

Grambling State 8, Jackson State 7 – A close battle saw Grambling edge out Jackson State.
Alabama A&M 5, Prairie View A&M 3 – Alabama A&M secured a solid win.
Southern 8, Texas Southern 3 – Southern dominated early and never looked back.
Day 2 (Feb. 15, 2025):
Jackson State 6, Alabama A&M 3 – Jackson State bounced back with a strong win.
Southern 7, Grambling State 4 – Southern took a key rivalry victory.
Texas Southern 3, Prairie View A&M 2 – A walk-off win for Texas Southern in a thriller.
Day 3 (Feb. 16, 2025):
Grambling State 9, Alabama A&M 6 – Grambling’s offense led them to victory.
Jackson State 7, Texas Southern 3 – Jackson State closed out the tournament with a commanding win.
Southern 6, Prairie View A&M 4 – Southern finished undefeated in the Classic.
The tournament highlighted the talent in HBCU baseball, with Southern standing out as the top team.
