In a thrilling homecoming showdown, Channelview High School emerged victorious over Goose Creek Memorial High School, capturing a dramatic 27-21 comeback win. From the opening moments, it was clear both teams were determined to break their winless streaks, trading blows and building a tense back-and-forth that would last the entire game.

The excitement began early as Goose Creek Memorial capitalized on a Channelview fumble, taking a quick 7-0 lead after a 75-yard touchdown pass from Royton Williams to Joshua Babin. But Channelview was undeterred; they responded with a 7-yard rushing touchdown by Brandon Orellana, tying the game at 7-7.

In the second quarter, Channelview’s quarterback Jason Wheelock connected with Nehemiah Jordan on a short 2-yard touchdown pass, giving Channelview a 13-7 lead. A missed extra point, however, kept the game close, and Goose Creek fired back with another long touchdown pass, this time a 77-yard strike from Williams to Matthew Thomas, putting them back on top 14-13 just before halftime.

The third quarter turned into a defensive standoff, with both teams punting repeatedly and failing to add to the scoreboard. Early in the fourth, Channelview finally broke through, regaining the lead at 20-14 after a 2-yard rushing touchdown by Wheelock. Eduardo Peña's PAT extended the lead, but Goose Creek wasn’t done. With just three minutes left, Ricco Richards Jr. bulldozed into the end zone on a 1-yard rush, and the extra point put Goose Creek back in front 21-20.

With their backs against the wall, Channelview surged down the field in the final minute, and Wheelock delivered a clutch 5-yard touchdown pass to reclaim the lead. Peña’s PAT solidified the score at 27-21. Goose Creek’s final attempt to answer fell short, and Channelview clinched a memorable victory, capping off their homecoming night with their first win of the season.

The celebration was made even more special as Instagram users @iliannaskyy and @Sean_062007 were crowned homecoming queen and king, adding to Channelview's unforgettable night.
