In a commanding performance on September 30th, 2023, the Florida A&M Rattlers defeated the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils 31-7. The Rattlers showcased their prowess on both sides of the ball, capitalizing on key moments to secure their victory.

1st Quarter: Quick Start by the Rattlers

The Rattlers set the tone early in the first quarter when Terrell Jennings recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown at the 11:19 mark, putting Florida A&M ahead 7-0 after Cameron Gillis' successful kick. Later in the quarter, Gillis added to the lead with a 29-yard field goal, making it 10-0 by the end of the first quarter.

2nd Quarter: Delta Devils Fight Back

Mississippi Valley State responded in the second quarter, narrowing the deficit when Jakobe Thomas caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jamari Jones with 4:23 remaining in the half. Anthony Turnage's extra point brought the Delta Devils within three points, with the score at 10-7 heading into halftime.

Rattlers Seal the Win

The third quarter saw the Rattlers extend their lead. Johnny Chaney Jr. powered through the Delta Devils' defense with a 5-yard rushing touchdown at the 2:01 mark. Trey Wilhoit's kick was good, pushing the Rattlers' lead to 17-7.

Florida A&M put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter with a pair of touchdown passes from Jeremy Moussa. The first came on a 6-yard pass to Koby Gross at the 13:19 mark, followed by a 34-yard strike to Marcus Riley at 10:05, showcasing Moussa's precision and the Rattlers' explosive offense. Cameron Gillis was perfect on both extra points, finalizing the score at 31-7.
