MVSU Dominates Homecoming with a 42-17 Victory Over Arkansas-Pine Bluff

The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils made their Homecoming game a memorable one with a decisive 42-17 win over the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions. The game was a showcase of offensive power and defensive prowess, delighting the Homecoming crowd at MVSU.

First/Second Quarter:

Mississippi Valley State set the tone early with a 35-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Ty'Jarian Williams to wide receiver Kerrick Ross, followed by a successful extra point kick from Anthony Turnage. The drive covered 76 yards in 8 plays and took 4:34 off the clock, giving MVSU a 7-0 lead.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff responded with a 25-yard field goal by Dean Sarris, capping an 8-play, 65-yard drive that took 3:16 off the clock. The score was 7-3. However, MVSU quickly answered with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Williams to Kobe Chambers, with Alexander Davis adding the extra point. This drive covered 34 yards in just 4 plays and 57 seconds, pushing the lead to 14-3.

Third/Fourth Quarter:

The Golden Lions fought back with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Chancellor Edwards to Tristan Ballard, followed by a Trey Glymph extra point, making the score 14-10. But Mississippi Valley State responded with a 3-yard touchdown pass from Williams to Jaxson Davis, and a successful extra point by Davis, extending the lead to 21-10. Moments later, Omar Emmons intercepted a pass and returned it 16 yards for a touchdown, with Davis adding another extra point, bringing the score to 28-10.

MVSU continued to dominate with a 53-yard touchdown run by DePhabian Fant, followed by Davis's extra point, making the score 35-10. Arkansas-Pine Bluff managed to add another touchdown with a 23-yard pass from Edwards to Kenji Lewis, and Sarris’s extra point, narrowing the gap to 35-17. The Delta Devils capped off the scoring with a 7-yard touchdown run by Jared Wilson, with Davis adding the final extra point, securing the 42-17 victory.

The Delta Devils' offensive efficiency and defensive play proved too much for the Golden Lions, leading to a commanding Homecoming win. MVSU will look to build on this momentum as the season progresses, while Arkansas-Pine Bluff will regroup for their upcoming games.
