SVD Beaumont Makes Statement in Women’s UPSL Texas South Division Opener

SVD Beaumont could not have asked for a better start to their Women’s UPSL Texas South Division journey

As a new team entering the league and the women’s soccer scene, SVD Beaumont opened its campaign with an impressive 8-1 victory over USSP, making a strong statement in its first official match.

The game started with SVD striking first, as Marianna Cardenas opened the scoring to give Beaumont the early 1-0 lead. USSP responded shortly after, converting on a free kick to bring the match level at 1-1 and showing early fight against a strong SVD side.

From there, SVD Beaumont began to settle into the match and take control in the attacking third. Juana Pulido helped put SVD back in front, while Cardenas continued to lead the attack with a standout four-goal performance. Ariana Sandoval also found the back of the net, and Mandi Boudreaux added two goals to close out a strong team showing.

While the final score favored SVD, USSP continued to battle through adversity. Prospects entered the match short on players and had only two substitutes available, but still fought through the full match against a strong Beaumont side. Even after going into the second half goalless from open play, USSP kept competing and worked to create moments despite the pressure from SVD.

The playmaking for Beaumont was just as impressive as the finishing. Taylor Bull recorded two assists, Megan Newsom added an assist, and Sandoval contributed two assists along with her goal.

Beyond the scoreline, the atmosphere stood out. For a new team, SVD Beaumont created a strong home environment, with fans showing up, food available, and SVD logo placements seen throughout the venue. The match had the feel of a club building something bigger than just one game.

Cardenas was named Woman of the Match after leading the attack and helping SVD Beaumont start the season with momentum, confidence, and a strong first impression.

With the 8-1 victory, SVD Beaumont begins its Women’s UPSL Texas South Division season on a high note, while USSP showed resilience and fight despite facing a difficult matchup on the road.
