With a $10,000 cash prize on the line in the UPSL Texas Cup, the pressure was high — and Texas Spurs delivered.
Texas Spurs secured a commanding 3-1 semifinal victory over Houston FC on Saturday afternoon, punching their ticket to the Texas Cup Final and moving one step closer to the $10K prize.
The Spurs opened the scoring through #16, who struck from outside the 18-yard box. His shot smashed off the bottom right post and bounced into the net, a statement goal that set the tone early.
Houston FC answered before the break.
#21 found himself 1v1 with the keeper and calmly finished, bringing the match level.
At halftime, the score stood 1-1, with everything to play for.
The second half, however, belonged to Texas Spurs.
A well-delivered cross into the box led to the go-ahead goal, as #6 finished inside the area to restore the Spurs’ lead.
Later, Texas Spurs earned a free kick in a dangerous position. Once again, #6 stepped up and drove a low shot through traffic and into the net, extending the advantage and sealing the 3-1 semifinal victory.
